What Is It?
There are many types and depths of chemical peels. Superficial peels require no down time compared to medium and deep peels. Alpha glycolic acid is one of many different peeling chemicals available. Different concentrations and pH of the peel affect the depth. Chemical peeling is an accelerated form of exfoliation. Every day our skin normally produces new skin cells and sloughs off the old. Chemical peels help to improve irregularly pigmented and sun-damaged skin, minimize fine lines and pores, refine and smooth the texture of the skin, and give the skin an overall healthy glow.

What Happens Microscopically?
Histologically, chemical peeling stimulates growth of the deeper layers of skin, including thickening of the epidermis and increasing deposition of new Collagen and Glycosaminoglycans in the dermis.

How to Achieve the Best Result
Maximum results are achieved and maintained by repeating superficial peels every 4 weeks.

What Is Involved?
The process is simple and takes approximately 15 minutes. After the skin is cleaned, a priming solution is applied. This is followed by the application of the peeling agent . The peeling agent is left on the skin 30- 360 seconds and then neutralized with water or a neutralizing base. Makeup may be applied immediately following the peel. Mild flaking of the skin may occur in a few localized areas for 1-2 days, but actual peeling is not necessary or expected to achieve results. Most patients who undergo this treatment have only a little redness for 12 to 24 hours.
